Just As I Am

I have known for weeks I was going to write about this. I just wasn’t sure when God wanted me to write it. Today is the day!

When I was 12 we lived in England. One Sunday morning at church, right around Easter time, I felt the Holy Spirit moving in my heart. We were singing “Just As I Am” at the end of the service. I remember crying so hard as I walked down the aisle to the front of the church. I was crying because I was overwhelmed knowing Jesus died for me and was calling me to trust him. And, I know He did this to save me! No matter what I was or what I had done, He wanted me still. That is what it’s all about! Jesus came to save us! God knew there was no other way. We are all sinners! You can be as good as good gets and still be a sinner. There’s no way for anyone to be good enough to save themselves. Jesus came as the ultimate sacrifice for ALL of us.

There was a time, when I was 7, that I accepted Jesus in my life. But to be honest, I don’t remember it. I remember it kind of happening, but I remember no other details. So did it happen at all?

I was molested for about a year and half when I was 7 and 8 years old. Memories before 9 years old are very few and far between. I used to pray that God would remove the memories of any of that happening and help me forget it and move on. Well, He did. I remember very little of it and also very little of my young childhood. But, God has helped me forgive, as He forgave me, and move on in life. There are times I still remember it and still have to forgive. But, if God can forgive me, I know I can forgive someone else, no matter how bad.

Is there a time when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? I tell you what! It’s the most important decision you’ll ever make.

As I close this for today, I want to leave you with the words of the song “Just As I Am.” May they help you remember today, Good Friday, and all Jesus did for us.

Just As I Am

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt;
Fightings within, and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind;
Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
